WWDC 2017: Apple’s Announcements for Developers

As usual, Apple kicked off its Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) with a flurry of announcements of interest to the mobile development industry and other developers. Key themes at this year’s event included artificial intelligence and machine learning, hardware updates, augmented and virtual reality, Apple Pay and new developer tools. Big announcements included the following:

  • New features, including iMessage apps, Siri improvements and Control Center updates, for iOS 11
  • A redesigned App Store
  • ARKit camera API for developers
  • HomePod speakers
  • The High Sierra macOS update
  • Updated iMac, MacBook Pro, and iMac Pro models
  • Improvements for watchOS and the Apple Watch
