nTask Features

nTask Project Management Software

Although nTask is relatively “new” since it was launched in 2015, that has not prevented the PM software from adding plenty of features under its umbrella. What has this led to? nTask acquiring some of the biggest client names in the business, including Google, Apple, and Walmart.

nTask calls itself “The Complete Project Management Software” on its homepage, and it is has some impressive features to back this up. Before we jump into its actual features, however, let us discuss nTask’s user-friendliness. Thanks to a simple interface and streamlined design, it does not take much effort to navigate nTask and start enjoying all of its features, even if you are a beginner. Whether you need to access a specific view or tool, nTask makes it easy. And if you want to change a workflow, all it takes is a few mouse clicks.

According to its manufacturer, nTask can help you deliver work three times faster and plan projects five times faster. How? By leveraging its many project and task management features, which include:

  • Multiple task views and advanced task tracking
  • Built-in collaboration tools
  • Gantt charts and Kanban boards
  • Risk management features
  • Issue and bug tracking

nTask Project Management Software
Project managers and development teams can plan and tackle tasks via to-do lists with start and end dates, plus time estimations. There are multiple task views (grid, board, calendar, list), task descriptions, subtasks, recurring tasks, and dependencies. And assigning tasks to team members is also a breeze.

Developers can collaborate in nTask via team chat, a meeting management feature, file and document sharing, dedicated workspaces, and task comments. The PM software also features Gantt charts for visualizing progress, Kanban boards, setting task dependencies, defining milestones, tracking your budget, and more. And it also has a dock view, color-coding for projects, risk management, and time tracking. There is issue tracking, too, that can supposedly help development teams fix bugs four times faster. And should you need to extend nTask’s functionality, you can do so with integrations for Zoom, Google Calendar, Slack, and other popular third-party apps.

nTask Pricing

nTask gives development teams four pricing plans to choose from, including:

  • Basic: Free up to 5 users with limited features
  • Premium: $3 per user, per month
  • Business: $8 per user, per month
  • Enterprise: Contact sales for pricing

The Basic plan is nTask’s free forever option for up to five team members with unlimited workspaces, tasks, and meeting access. The Premium offering costs $3 per user, per month and is geared towards individuals and small teams getting their feet wet with project management.

The most popular offering, the Business plan, costs $8 per user, per month for teams needing more advanced project planning features. And for development teams that need enterprise-grade security and ultimate customization, there is the custom-priced Enterprise plan.

nTask Pros

nTask is easy-to-use PM software with plenty of features to help project managers and their development teams. The meeting management feature is quite solid for keeping everyone in sync, and nTask’s enterprise-grade risk management can help development teams plan for unwanted events. nTask also excels with its extensive task management, time tracking, and end-to-end issue tracking. And, while the Free plan is quite solid, budget-minded teams can enjoy nTask’s paid plans without breaking the bank.

nTask Cons

While nTask comes chock full of features, the PM software is designed more for smaller teams and projects. If you are running a large development team, you may find nTask limiting. Another nTask disadvantage for some is that nTask offers self-hosting only on its pricier plan.
Lastly, while nTask is easy to navigate, it can take a ton of clicks to get to where you need to be.

Todoist Features

Todoist Review

Todoist claims to be the top to-do list app and task manager in the world. And, while simple to-do lists may seem trivial to some, Todoist has managed to secure some very impressive names to its client list, including Amazon, Facebook, Disney, and Netflix.

Todoist has the following features, depending on which plan you choose, as detailed below:

  • Task management
  • Calendar sync and integrations
  • Activity logs
  • Drag and drop, customizable boards
  • Collaboration and file sharing

Todoist’s user-friendly features depend greatly on what plan you pick. Opt for the Free plan, and you can start organizing your personal or maybe even some work tasks with due dates, priorities, comments, labels, calendar sync, and integrations. But to truly get the most out of Todoist, especially for a development team, you will probably need to opt for the Business plan, as it offers extra collaborative and billing features, plus admin and member roles that the other plans lack.

Todist Tasks
Example of Todoists Tasks

With the Todoist Business plan, you get team management through a centralized admin. Use it to adjust sharing permissions, manage team members, view invoices, and the like. Todoist’s activity log lets project managers see what is being worked on and what is next on the agenda, and it lets you filter data according to project or team member.

Todoist also has customizable boards that are quite easy to use. You can drag and drop tasks as they transition in status from the idea stage to in progress and done, add subtasks, and you can also invite team members to boards without fuss. And, should you need to, you can switch from board to list view.

Developers collaborate in Todoist through comments and file sharing. There are automatic notifications once changes happen to shared projects too. Other Todoist features include reminders, the ability to convert emails into tasks, templates (bug tracking, development workflow, issue tracking, product roadmap, etc.), custom filters to focus and find what you need fast, and tons of third-party integrations.

Todoist Pricing

Todoist keeps it simple when it comes to cost, offering project managers and development teams three pricing plans to choose from:

  • Free: Free for five users and five projects with limited features
  • Pro: $4 per user, per month
  • Business: $6 per user, per month

Starters can enjoy the Free plan for up to five collaborators and five projects. The Pro plan gives you 300 active projects, 25 collaborators per project, reminders, and more for $4 per user, per month. Meanwhile, the Business plan for teams costs $6 per user, per month and offers 500 active projects per member with 50 people per project, team inbox, billing, and more.

Todoist Pros

Todoist is very easy to use, even for non-technical users. Its templates offer plenty of structure for swift starts, and the fact that Todoist works offline is another plus. And should you need just basic task management, you can get it through Todoist’s Free plan.

Todoist Cons

Todoist is more of a task manager than a true project manager. As such, simplicity could be a downside for some. Also, if you want to unlock Todoist’s full range of features that are most likely needed to manage a complete development team, you will have to pay for its priciest plan.

nTask and Todoist Differences

Both nTask and Todoist are quite user-friendly and easy to use right out of the gate. They also offer solid free plans for users needing the basics. How do they differ, then? The most significant difference would be that nTask offers many more features for project management (collaboration, time tracking, meeting management, risk management, etc.) than Todoist does. You cannot fault Todoist for that, however, as it was primarily designed as an advanced to-do list and task manager that has evolved over time.

nTask versus Todoist: The Verdict

Choosing between nTask and Todoist is quite simple. Are you a project manager needing an all-in-one PM software solution to manage your development team? Then nTask is the proper pick. But if you simply want to manage tasks and stay organized, you may find Todoist and its simplicity to be the better fit.
