The secure messaging app Wire has open sourced its complete code base, including the user interface, the web and native clients, and some internal developer tools. Wire, which was founded by Skype co-founder Janus Friis and two other Skype veterans, Priidu Zilmer and Alan Duric, encrypts all text, audio, video and files sent via the app>
Developers can now contribute to Wire via its GitHub repository. Mobile development firms can also use the code for Wire to add secure messaging capabilities to their own apps.
“This is all part of Wire’s vision to be the totally secure and completely transparent messaging app of choice,” Duric said.
