Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched a new beta feature that allows its EC2 Container Service (ECS) to support Windows containers. In order to support the feature, AWS developed an open source Windows Container agent that is now available through GitHub. However, experts say that setting up and managing containers for Windows instances on the cloud computing service is still a little more complicated than for Linux instances.
Three months ago, Microsoft launched Windows Server 2016, which included support for Docker’s container engine. This latest AWS beta release gives enterprises access to the same feature in the cloud that they could already use on-premises.
