Over the weekend, 2,567 app developers in India set a new Guinness world record. The group, gathered for the Microsoft Windows 8 Appfest held outside Bangalore, wrote code for eighteen hours without a break.
Speaking at the event, Microsoft’s Jon DeVaan noted, “Developers are at the center of Microsoft’s success. And India is home to some of the world’s most talented developers. We are focused on enabling developers to succeed as they build the next generation of apps. I can’t wait to see some of these apps being built at the Windows Appfest.”
Although the group did set a new world record, they didn’t quite meet Microsoft’s expectations–the company had hoped that 3,500 developers would last the entire 18 hours.
