A new Apigee survey commissioned by uSamp sheds light on the most common reasons why users might delete mobile apps or give them bad reviews. The number one culprit: freezes. Among those surveyed, 76 percent said they would delete an app if it froze up. Similarly, 71 percent said they would get rid of an app that crashed. In addition, 59 percent would delete apps for slow responsiveness, 55 percent for heavy battery usage and 53 percent for too many ads.

“An unforgiving 18 percent admitted they would even delete an app immediately from their device if it froze for just five seconds,” the report said. “In the growing app economy, there’s a natural Darwinian effect, and only the best apps will survive.”

Among those who delete apps, 32 percent said they would tell their friends about the poor performance and 21 percent said they would give poor ratings or reviews.
