What motivates people to contribute to an open source project isn’t money?
According to a new survey by Forrester Research, 62 percent of open source community members contribute because, for them, it’s “fun to solve problems.”
The next most common motivating factor is a “sense of accomplishment.” Only 9 percent of open source developers are paid for their work.
