On Tuesday, Apple unveiled its newest lineup of smartphones, including the iPhone X (10). For mobile development firms, one of the most significant changes is that the display of the iPhone X has a different aspect ratio than the iPhone 7 and 8. That means they’ll need to design apps to accommodate both screen sizes.
The iPhone X also has some new features that could be incorporated into apps. For example, it has 3D facial recognition, an HDR screen and a groundbreaking neural engine. Some observers say the artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities infused into the new phone’s hardware and software could enable much more sophisticated apps.
However, the iPhone X also carries a hefty $999 price tag, and it remains to be seen how many users will be willing to hand over that much money for the latest bells and whistles on a smartphone.
