The second named release of the VP8 Codec SDK (libvpx) is now available.
It’s codenamed “Bali.” According to the announcement, the focus of this release has been on quality and performance.
“On x86 processors, Bali runs 4.5x as fast than our initial release and 1.35x faster than Aylesbury,” WebM Project Manager John Luther said.
Luther also explained that quality has been greatly improved on “noisy” source videos through temporal filtering of alternate reference frames.
