W3C Announces HTML 5.2 Specification

HTML 5.2 is official. The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Platform Working Group announced that HTML 5.2 has reached recommendation status. At the same time, the group also released a public working draft of HTML 5.3.

“The HTML 5.2 specification defines the 5th major version, second minor revision of the core language of the World Wide Web: the Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). In this version, new features continue to be introduced to help Web application authors, new elements continue to be introduced based on research into prevailing authoring practices, and special attention continues to be given to defining clear conformance criteria for user agents in an effort to improve interoperability,” the W3C wrote.

Key features in the new recommendation include the dialog element, ECMA-262 integration, ARIA reference updates and a referrer policy.
