The Eclipse Foundation is renaming Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE), and it is soliciting developer input on the new name. It previously asked for nominations, and it has narrowed down the choices to two: Enterprise Profile or Jakarta EE. Now anyone with a Google account can vote for his or her favorite through a Google Forms Page.
The foundation needed a new name for the project because Oracle owns the Java EE trademark. Mike Milinkovich, the Eclipse Foundation executive director, will make the final name selection.
