Turns out Sun’s Java is one of the most important technologies Oracle has ever purchased and they have been very restrained over how they make money off it. Clearly the goal all along was to profit from the venture, however with the open source nature of the technology, Oracle is insuring that Java remains at the center of business applications with the goal of making both hardware and software applications fully integrated with Java.
