Twitter has unveiled a new Certified Products Program for third-party apps designed to help enterprises use Twitter data to connect with customers. “With this program, we’ve identified areas where we see huge demand for innovation on Twitter’s platform,” blogged Twitter’s Seth Bindernagel. Specifically, the company will certify apps in three categories: Engagement, Analytics and Data Reseller. In order to receive certification, apps must not duplicate existing Twitter features.
The new program comes shortly after Twitter announced changes to its API. Developers have highly criticized the API changes, which discourage the development of front-ends and similar apps for the service.
