Twitter has joined the growing number of tech companies that offer mobile development firms the ability to purchase app install ads—advertisements that allow users to install an app when they click on the ad. In Twitter’s case, the technology for the ads is powered by MoPub Marketplace, a startup Twitter bought last year.
Facebook and Yahoo have previously launched similar services. According to BuzzFeed, Facebook’s ad install program helped the social networking platform reach 245 million app installs last year, generating hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue.
