Google’s Developer Advocate Tim Bray posted a story on how to utilize Android’s evolving UI patterns to build applications for Google’s open source mobile operating system.
“Along with our regular updates of the Android platform,” Bray wrote, “we like to build example applications that showcase best practices for UI features and behavior patterns, to help our 3rd party developers create even richer applications.”
In this post, Google’s Interactive Designers Chris Nesladek and Richard Fulcher, along with Software Engineer Virgil Dobjanschi, walk you through the components of their Twitter for Android UI components.
They go over the best practices for implementing an application dashboard, companion widgets, QuickActions, searching and action bars, and syncing with the address book.
It’s a quick read and worth it if you’re planning to develop for the Android.
