Online job board Dice.com has published a new survey that ranks the IT skills most in demand by employers. As in previous surveys, Java continued to top the list. Mobile development skills climbed from third place last year to second place this year. Similarly, .NET rose from fourth place the third place.
But the biggest change on the list was the sudden rise in demand for big data skills. Data analysis/analytics wasn’t even in the top ten for development skills in 2012, but in 2013, it ranked fourth.
Dice predicts steady IT hiring during the year. New York is the city with the highest demand, followed by Washington, D.C./Baltimore and Silicon Valley.
