Tiobe has updated its index of programming languages for September 2018, and for the first time, Python is in the top three. It displaced C++ to claim the spot.
The other big news this month is that Julia is continuing its climb up the rankings. Last month, it broke into the top 50 for this first time, and this month it rose from 50th to 39th.
This month’s top ten were Java (17.436 percent), C (15.447 percent), Python (7.653 percent), C++ (7.394 percent), Visual Basic .NET (5.308 percent), C# (3.295 percent), PHP (2.775 percent), JavaScript (2.131 percent), SQL (2.062 percent) and Objective-C (1.509 percent).
