Thoma Bravo Buys Veracode

Application security vendor Veracode has a new owner for the second time in two years. CA Technologies bought Veracode in 2017 for $614 million. On November 5, Broadcom closed its purchase of CA Technologies for $18.9 billion, and on the very same day, private equity firm Thoma Bravo announced that it was buying Veracode from CA/Broadcom for $950 million.

“The market for AppSec is growing rapidly, and the urgency for what we have to offer has never been higher,” said Sam King, senior vice president and general manager of Veracode. “At an advantageous time like this, it is of great benefit to Veracode to once again become an independent AppSec pure-play company. This combined with the expertise and experience that Thoma Bravo has in cyber-security gives us the ability to accelerate our growth and product innovation, while continuing to nurture the unique culture we always valued.”

Thoma Bravo also owns Barracuda Networks, LogRhythm, Centrify, Imperva, Digicert, Sailpoint and McAfee.
