The Wall Street Journal reported today that after Oracle’s recent announcement regarding concessions over the future of MySQL, “European Union antitrust regulators are poised to clear Oracle Corp.’s bid for Sun Microsystems Inc.”

That contradicts what the European publication, EurActiv.com, reported yesterday. In that story, “sources close” to the process said EU regulators were not swayed by Oracle’s weekend concessions regarding the future of MySQL.

The Wall Street Journal story seems to rely more on public statements by the EU, rather than actual sources.

“The EU reacted positively to the move in a statement quick on the heels of Oracle’s announcement. But it didn’t immediately take any formal action, and it has until late January to give a final ruling,” said the Wall Street Journal.
