Oracle’s purchase of Sun Microsystems may have jumpstarted an open source NoSQL tea party-style revolution.
That’s what ZDNet’s Dana Blankenhorn said in his column today.
The movement away from relational databases, he wrote, “started in Boston with an event called NoSQL Live that was completely sold out.”
Open source projects MongoDB, Apache’s CouchDB and Cassandra presented their stuff at NoSQL Live.
Now 10gen is offering commercial service and support for MongoDB. Tomorrow’s MongoDB Day and on Tuesday the company is throwing an event in San Francisco.
