Embarcadero Technologies has released the results of a developer survey it commissioned from Dimensional Research. Of the 1,337 Windows developers they talked to, 85 percent said they had received requests for mobile development—either new mobile apps or mobile features for existing apps. The most in-demand mobile platform was Android, cited by 83 percent of those surveyed, followed by iOS (67 percent), Windows Phone (33 percent) and Windows RT (17 percent).
However, 92 percent of Windows developers said they had concerns about mobile development, such as costs or a lack of skills. “They have to do [mobile development],” said Dimensional Research’s Diane Hagglund. “They’re figuring it out. These are really smart guys, but it’s making challenges for them.”
