Evans Data has released a new “Global Development Population and Demographics Study,” which finds that the mobile development industry is growing very quickly. Out of the total developer population of 21 million, more than half, 12 million, write mobile apps. Android appears to be dominating with 5.9 million developers saying it is the platform they target first, while 2.8 million said the same about iOS.
The survey also polled developers about security risks. North American developers said cyber-intrusions from nation-states are the biggest threat to computer security, but developers in other parts of the world disagreed. In addition, 27 percent of developers said public clouds are the most vulnerable to compromise, while 25 percent said mobile clients are the most vulnerable.
