A new study published by Crittercism claims that iOS apps crash more often than Android apps. In addition, older versions of OSes are more susceptible to crashes than newer versions. For example, KitKat (Android 4.4) apps crash 0.7 percent of the time compared to a 1.7 percent error rate for Gingerbread (Android 2.3).
When it comes to devices, tablets were much more likely to experience app crashes than smartphones, likely because mobile development firms don’t always optimize their apps for the larger devices. Overall, the devices with the lowest error rates were the Samsung Galaxy S4 (0.9 percent) on the Android side and the iPhone 5 (1.7 percent) on the iOS side.
