The Object Management Group (OMG) has released a new standard called the Interaction Flow Modeling Language (IFML). It’s a visual modeling language that makes it easier to explain the features and behavior of an application front end.
“Front-end design of Web applications is a complex and multidisciplinary task, where many perspectives intersect,” said OMG member Marco Brambilla. “It requires skills spanning communication, graphical design, software development, system integration, usability and user experience design. Companies will need better tools and methods to make their way in the jungle of platforms, frameworks, toolkits and languages. IFML is one such tool.”
IFML can be used for desktop or mobile development as well as Web development. Brambilla says that the language can help reduce front-end development and maintenance costs by up to 70 percent.
