According to a new report from Software.org, software development and distribution generates $1.14 trillion for the national economy, as well as supporting more than 10 million jobs. In addition, the software industry is growing faster than the economy as a whole, the report said. While the overall economy grew 6.7 percent in the last two years, software’s economic impact increased 18.7 percent.
That economic benefit isn’t limited to traditional technology hubs, either. The report said that all 50 states saw growth as a result of software development, and the sates with the fastest-growing software employment included Kansas, Mississippi, Indiana, Idaho, and Louisiana.
