SAP has announced several changes to its mobile and cloud development strategies. First, it is renaming the SAP HANA Cloud Platform as the SAP Cloud Platform. The platform will offer more emphasis on creating usable apps, as opposed to concentrating on back-end integration, which has been SAP’s focus in the past. “This is a fundamental strategy change for us. We’ve had to flip our model,” said SAP senior vice president Rick Knowles.
In addition, SAP is rolling out a new Swift-based iOS SDK that will be part of that cloud platform. “We worked with Apple to build, in an integrated way, an SDK that is fully exposed along with add-ons, prebuilt landscapes and templates to speed up development time like writing log-in scripts and to create things in a far faster way,” said Knowles.
