Samsung and EA are teaming up for a program called “100% Indie.” It aims to get more third-party developers interested in Samsung’s app store by offering them a larger cut of sales.
Most app stores, including Apple’s App Store and Google Play, keep a 30 percent cut of sales and pay developers the rest. However, Samsung promises to pay developers who are part of the program 100% of sales for the first six months. After that, the developer gets to keep 90% of sales for the rest of the first year. The second year, Samsung will begin taking a 20% cut of sales, and by the third year, Samsung will pocket 30%, like other app stores.
