The folks at Ars Technica have published some mind-blowing statistics about which tech firms employ the most people and the most developers. Sifting through public filings, they came up with the following headcount numbers for 2013:
- Apple–80,3000
- Google–47,756
- Microsoft–99,000
- Samsung Electronics–275,133
In other words, Samsung employs more people than Apple, Google and Microsoft combined; in fact, it’s more than five times the size of Google alone.
Even if you consider just developers, the numbers are staggering. Samsung has 40,506 software engineers (a 45 percent increase since 2011) compared to 18,593 people at Google working in research and development.
