According to a new report from App Annie, mobile apps in the “Social” and “Communication” categories saw the most usage sessions per user in the first quarter. In the U.S., the two categories account for about 60 percent of Android app sessions. In addition, the top five iOS communication apps had seven times as many usage sessions in the U.S. as leading game and music streaming apps.
Still, games dominate revenue. In the U.S., 80 percent of app store revenue came from games, and in Japan and South Korea, games brought in 90 percent of App Store and Google Play revenue.
