Development tool vendor ActiveState has published its Developers Open Source Runtimes Pains Survey, which asked developers using open source runtimes about their preferences and pain points. Highlights included the following:
- Python achieved the highest satisfaction level, with 68 percent saying they were very satisfied or greater with the programming language.
- Go came in second place with a 61 percent satisfaction rating, but Objective C ranked last with a 26 percent satisfaction rating.
- 50 percent of respondents reported that security is their greatest pain point, while 47 percent pointed to stability.
- 74 percent of respondents spend most or part of their weekly time managing dependencies and development tools.
