A new report from eMarketer finds that it is very difficult for mobile development firms to retain app users in China for more than a week. The category with the best retention is education and learning apps, which has a 23.6 percent retention rate. At the other end of the spectrum are theme wallpaper apps with a 14.7 percent retention rate.

Other reports from Localytics and Deloitte found similar results, and the Deloitte report also found that 46 percent of smartphone users in China hadn’t downloaded any apps in 2015.
