A new mobile development industry report from Flurry shows that mobile app session growth slowed in 2017. Between 2015 and 2016, app sessions increased 11 percent, but between 2016 and 2017, sessions climbed just 6 percent. “2017 was the year that mobile app innovation and growth was disrupted,” said the report.
However, the amount of session growth varied widely by category. For example, usage sessions for shopping apps climbed 54 percent, while music, media and entertainment apps saw 43 percent session growth. On the other end of the spectrum, sessions for lifestyle apps declined 40 percent, games were down 16 percent and sports apps decreased by 8 percent.
