Anonymous sources have told Bloomberg that Microsoft is pulling out all the stops to get HTC to load Windows Phone on some Android handsets. In fact, the insiders say Microsoft is willing to reduce greatly or even eliminate its licensing fees in order to get its platform installed as a second option on Android smartphones.
Microsoft executives have allegedly been meeting with HTC, but no deal has been worked out yet.
So far, Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform has failed to catch on with end users and the mobile development industry. IDC reports that Windows Phone currently accounts for just 3.7 percent of the market.
