MEF’s latest Global Privacy Report is shining the spotlight on privacy problems in mobile apps. Forty-five percent of mobile apps don’t allow users to see their privacy policies before download. Only 32 percent provide access to privacy policies from within the app. And 28 percent of the top apps don’t have privacy policies at all.
But those mobile development firms that have created privacy policies and made them easily accessible also come under fire in the report. The average policy was 3,068 words long, which would take the average adult 12 minutes to read—much longer than most are willing to spend looking at a privacy policy.
