Report: iOS Increases U.S. Market Share by 7.8%

Despite Android’s dominance, perhaps the mobile development industry shouldn’t count iOS out yet. According to a new report from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, iOS grew its U.S. market share 7.8 percent in the past year, and it now accounts for 43.4 percent of all smartphones sold in the country. Android slipped from 58.7 percent in 2012 to 51.1 percent in 2013, meaning it’s still in the majority, but slipping.

Microsoft’s Windows Phone grew slightly during the, from 3.0 to 3.5 percent of the market. BlackBerry declined from 1.9 percent to 1.2 percent.

In the worldwide market, Android dominates, accounting for approximately 70 percent of all smartphone sales.
