A new report from Distimo holds good news for the Google Play app store. While Google’s Android store still trails Apple’s App Store in total revenue, Google Play’s revenue is growing more quickly. Over the past six months, Google Play’s revenue climbed 51 percent, while App Store sales increased just 12 percent.
The report also highlighted the continued importance of in-app purchases. In the App Store, 92 percent of revenue now comes from in-app purchases; that compares to 77 percent six months ago. For Google Play, in-app purchases have increased from 89 percent to 98 percent of sales.
