Based on information from “two people familiar with the matter,” Bloomberg is reporting that the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has launched an antitrust investigation of Google. At issue are claims that Google gives priority to its own services on Android devices, making it difficult for users to use competing services.
Officials from the European Union have launched a similar probe into Google’s handling of Android.
In an earlier investigation, the FTC examined Google’s search practices but ultimately decided not to bring a case against the company.
