To date, Facebook has been slow to get into voice, but that could be about to change. Based on information from researcher Jane Manchun Wong, TechCrunch is reporting that the social network is developing a voice interface under the codename Aloha. The company is also reportedly working on a video chart smart speaker that was codenamed Aloha but has since been renamed Portal. In addition, Wong uncovered some evidence that Instagram might be adding voice messaging features.
When contacted for comment on the story, a Facebook spokesperson said, “We test stuff all the time — nothing to share today but my team will be in touch in a few weeks about hardware news coming from the AR/VR org.”
