Based on information from “people familiar with the matter,” Bloomberg is reporting that Apple is working on developing smart glasses. Although the project is still in the early stages, Apple has ordered small quantities of components from suppliers. It is said that the devices will be able to connect with iPhones and could include augmented reality (AR) capabilities. The device would not be available for sale until 2018 at the earliest
An Apple spokesperson declined to comment on the story. However, Apple CEO Tim Cook recently said, “AR can be really great, and we have been and continue to invest a lot in this. We are high on AR for the long run. We think there are great things for customers and a great commercial opportunity.”
