A new report from Millennial Media finds that 85 percent of mobile development firms are now monetizing their apps. That’s a 12 percent increase over last year. Of the developers that do monetize their mobile apps, 82 percent are running ads (a 9 percent year-over-year increase) and 33 percent enable video ads (a 5 percent increase). The percentage using paid downloads decreased from 45 percent to 34 percent, while in-app purchases climbed from 33 percent to 40 percent.
The report added, “Nearly half of those surveyed said developing new applications is their most important goal in 2015. Getting these apps out and downloaded by users is the theme of the second and third most important goals.”
