Bloomberg is reporting that Amazon has been making inquiries about buying Slack. Citing “people with knowledge of the situation,” the article says the deal would value Slack at $9 billion. Some observers have noted that this number seems high given that the company raised $200 million in its last funding round, which valued the startup at $3.8 billion.
Founded in 2013, Slack offers team collaboration software and services used by many enterprise application development teams. As of Jan. 31 this year, the company had 5 million daily active users and $150 million in recurring annual revenue.
Both companies declined to comment on the story.
