Analyst firm RedMonk has updated its semiannual programming language rankings. This time some of the most interesting news is that growth for two languages that had been on a meteoric rise — Kotlin and Swift — seems to have tapered off. Swift fell from 10th to 11th place in the latest chart, and Kotlin dropped from 27th to 28th place. Both languages are used for mobile development (Swift for iOS and Kotlin for Android).
The top ten on the ranking were as follows: JavaScript, Java, Python, PHP, C#, C++, CSS, Ruby, C (tied for ninth) and Objective-C (tied for ninth).
