Red Hat has recorded 168.3 percent return on investment over the last five years, and now the open source company is ranked 22 on Bloomberg Businessweek’s50 Top Performers” list.

To put this into perspective, Google is ranked 16; Apple is at 4; Amazon is listed at 10 and Microsoft didn’t make the cut.

This list is based “on our ranking of the 50 top-performing stock in the Standard & Poor’s 500-stock index over the past five years,” the magazine said.

Red Hat CEO Jim Whitehurst said in a statement, “Red Hat has thrived throughout the global recession, posting double-digit growth in revenue, profitability and employment for the past 24 months.”
