In a recent blog post, Stack Overflow’s David Robinson made the argument that “Python has a solid claim to being the fastest-growing major programming language.” The post notes that within high-income countries, Python was the most visited tag on the Stack Overflow site in July 2017, having grown 250 percent since 2012.
The post notes that some smaller languages like TypeScript had larger traffic growth, but “Python is an unusual case for being both one of the most visited tags on Stack Overflow and one of the fastest-growing ones.” And interestingly, Python’s year-over-year growth rate is actually accelerating, which is unusual for such a popular language.
