JetBrains has begun offering a version of its PyCharm integrated development environment (IDE) for Python in a free community edition. The free version is aimed at newbie developers or those with simple coding needs. It includes standard features like syntax highlighting, code completion, error recognition and code search.
The company will also continue to offer a paid professional version of the IDE for those with more advanced needs. The latest version includes features like duplicate code recognition, improved code completion and support for SQLAlchemy, Pyramid and Web2py. Prices for the paid version start at $99.
