In support of its new Android 9 Pie update, Google has released some new stats about the Play Store. Over the past year, the store has seen a 65 percent decrease in app sizes, a 70 percent decrease in crashes and a 30 percent increase in visits. The company attributes much of the success to changes it has made in the Play Store.

Looking ahead, the company plans to focus on Google Play Instant, the feature that allows users to try out an app before installing it. It also intends to improve the machine learning capabilities of the Play Store’s recommendation engine.
