On April 20, Pivotal Software began trading on the New York Stock Exchange. Shares started the day at $15 and closed at $15.73, raising more than $555 million for the company.
Before this initial public offering, Pivotal was 95 percent owned by Dell Technologies, which acquired the company when it merged with EMC. It sells software and cloud computing services, and it is best known for its Cloud Foundry cloud development platform.
