The next version of the PHP scripting language will reportedly be a lot faster than the current version. PHP founder Rasmus Lerdorf told the O’Reilly Fluent conference that builds of PHP 7 have yielded 100-percent-plus performance improvements.
A PHP 7 release candidate will become available in June, and the production version is scheduled to make its debut in October. Update features will include engine improvements, lower memory requirements and native local thread storage.
