Microsoft has been losing badly in the smartphone market ever since there’s been a smartphone market, well now it’s decided to wage a patent war against its competition.
On Friday, EnterpriseMobileToday’s Stuart Johnston reported that Microsoft filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Motorola over its Droid smartphones.
“Besides suing Motorola in U.S. District Court, Microsoft also launched a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission. The commission has the power to ban imports of products if they’re found to be infringing,” Johnston reported.
So now we have Oracle suing Google directly over Android and its use of Java, and now Microsoft is attacking Motorola over patent infringement. It appears that the patent wars are just getting started. This is what many in the open source community feared would happen.
