Security blogger Thomas Roth used Amazon’s Cluster GPU Instance to crack 14 hashes with passwords ranging in length from one to six characters in 14 minutes.

On his blog he said, “This just shows one more time that SHA1 is deprecated. You really don’t want to use it anymore.”

According to Roth, it cost him between $4 and $5 to crack the passwords.
